IGICS

Welcome address

I am honored to announce the 19th International Gastrointestinal Consensus Symposium (IGICS) held on 21st February 2026 as a part of GI Week 2026 meeting during a period 20th-22nd, February 2026 in Kumamoto. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Prof Akihito Nagahara, the JGA President, and Prof Kazuhide Higuchi, the GI week President, for giving me the opportunity of the chairperson. The theme of the 19th IGICS is “Asian perspective for Gastrointestinal diseases in the era of H. pylori eradication”. We are planning to perform a questionnaire survey about clinical practice guideline of H. pylori infection and the compliance of the guideline in Asian counties. Therefore, I would like to present a chance to discuss about H. pylori eradication and post-eradication issues. In addition, presentations of clinical observation and basic or translational research in the field of GI tract will be welcomed. JGA has established the three awards to encourage young doctors to participate in IGICS. There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the meeting. Fundamentally, 19th IGICS will be held on-site situation, thus giving the attendants a chance to visit Kumamoto. We hope that the symposium will serve as an international venue for dissemination and exchange of information. We look forward to having many of you submit abstracts and participate in the symposium.
