It is my great honor to announce that the 17th IGICS (International Gastrointestinal Consensus Symposium) will be held during GI Week 2024 in Okinawa on 10th (Saturday) February, 2024. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the board members of the academic society, especially Prof Akihito Nagahara, MD, JGA President and Prof Kazuhide Higuchi, MD, GI week President, for giving me an opportunity of the chairperson of 17th IGICS. The venue of the symposium is Okinawa Convention Center that is located in the seaside area of Ginowan city on the west coast of central Okinawa island.
The theme of this Symposium is focused on “Current status and future prospects of upper GI endoscopy”. Recent advances in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment for upper gastrointestinal diseases such as benign diseases and neoplastic diseases have been remarkable. Endoscopy as a diagnostic tool is widely ranging from screening endoscopy to magnifying endoscopy and functional endoscopy. Many kinds of endoscopic treatment are available such as hemostasis, dilation, stenting, POEM, closure and endoscopic resection for not only superficial tumor but also subepithelial tumor.
This symposium will be held both on-site and online as a hybrid.
We hope that you will be willing to register abstracts for this symposium. In addition, we extend our cordial invitation to all of you and look forward to seeing you in Okinawa soon.
